WOW! Shea Butter and Cocoa Butter Body Lotion
WOW! Shea Butter and Cocoa Butter Body Lotion

Winter is here! I just love the crisp morning sunlight with a nip in the air! However, with the beautiful weather also comes dry skin. And who knows that better than me. For someone who is always on the lookout for deep hydrating moisturizers, finding a really good one is always a challenge. This time I decided to give WOW Shea Butter and Cocoa Butter Moisturizing Body Lotion a chance and am so happy I did! Here’s why……

Packaging:

It’s a dark, opaque bottle with a pump dispenser which spurts just the right amount of product to prevent wastage. It’s also easy to use and carry. The back label has all the relevant information for you to make an informed choice. However, a lot of information is crammed into a relatively small area making it slightly unreadable.

First thoughts:

My winter skincare shopping began with buying this body lotion. The first thing I noticed about the white lotion is how thick and creamy it was. Lotions usually tend to be a bit runny. This consistency is in-between a lotion and a body butter, which I really liked. It spreads easily and absorbs into my skin beautifully without leaving a greasy feeling.

Since it is non-greasy despite hydrating so well, it also means that sometimes I can use it on my face too. I also need not follow it up with a dab of dusting powder just to take the sheen off.

I was also pleasantly surprised that it lasted well beyond my expectation of a few hours. My skin felt soft, supple and hydrated for longer. I did not feel the need to reapply the lotion throughout the day which means that the bottle will last longer and thereby be cost effective.

The fragrance does seem a bit strong and off-putting at first. However, having previously used raw, unrefined shea butter in my DIY packs, I am used to the slightly unique scent. The fragrance fades away after a while, leaving just a gentle, lingering perfume behind.

For a body lotion with a better fragrance, you can check out other options. There is a luxurious one with Indian Rose and a more pocket-friendly one that’s chocolatey

How to use:

Apply the lotion on the affected areas and gently massage till it is absorbed. For better results, apply on damp skin after a shower to quickly lock in surface moisture. Good for daily use.

Key ingredients:

Shea Butter and Cocoa Butter (to lock in skin’s moisture), Argan Oil (rich in vitamin E and fatty acids that remove dryness and restores skin health without clogging pores), Hyaluronic Acid (anti-aging hydrator that holds 1000 times its weight in water to help keep the skin plump and nourished), Almond Oils (natural moisturizing ingredients that locks in skin’s moisture), Beetroot Extract (rich in antioxidants and anti-aging properties), D Panthenol (Pro-Vitamin B5) and Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E) (ingredients with anti-aging qualities that encourage self-healing of skin and boosts collagen & elastin production under the skin)

Quantity:

300 ml

My reasons for recommending:

  1. It’s a deeply hydrating lotion and does its job really well
  2. Most suited for dry skin throughout the year, especially during winters
  3. All-natural ingredients
  4. NO Mineral Oils, Parabens, Silicones, Colours or Polyethylene Glycol (pg)
  5. Comes with a dispenser pump for ease of use and reduced wastage
  6. Cruelty-Free
  7. 100% Vegan
  8. The quality and quantity of the product at the given price makes it a pocket-friendly buy

Points to ponder:

  1. For oily skin, this could be useful during winters but can be avoided during summers
  2. The fragrance is unique and might take a bit getting-used-to
  3. The brand advises to do a patch test before use and advises not to use over inflamed skin
  4. The back label can be more reader-friendly

Final verdict:

Dry skin or oily, WOW! Shea Butter and Cocoa Butter Body Lotion can be your best friend during these winter months. If you are looking for a chemical-free, intense moisturiser that is easily dispensed and pocket-friendly, then this one’s for you! Go for it!
